Fantasy Hockey Cheat Sheet: DraftKings NHL DFS Top Picks, Values, Line-Up Strategy for December 29

There are six games in the NHL on Wednesday and the Panthers are the only notable favorite on the agenda. It will be important to continue to follow the latest NHL news closely with so much uncertainty over the past two weeks. The marquee game is definitely between the Oilers and the Blues in St. Louis, and the No. 1 center should also be noted. Alexander Barkov ($ 7,000) should return to action or the Panthers.

Top Line Stacks

Panthers vs. Rangers

Jonathan Huberdeau ($ 7,500) – Sam Bennett ($ 7,900) – Sam Reinhart ($ 5,900)

I hope for the presence of the New York starter Igor Shesterkin ($ 7,100) keeps the popularity of the Florida trio in check, and Bennett, Huberdeau and Reinhart end up flying under the radar. Shesterkin hasn’t started since Dec. 3 and the three Panthers have scored 6.22 goals, 5.82 expected goals and 18.65 high-risk scoring chances every 60 minutes for the season.

Blues vs. Oilers

Pavel Buchnevich ($ 5,800) – Robert Thomas ($ 3,000) – Vladimir Tarasenko ($ 7,300)

The Blues’ No.2 line has been solid this season with 4.97 goals per 60 minutes overall, 57.9 Corsi for percentage and 61.0 expected goals for five-on-five percentage. The combined ceiling hit doesn’t break the bank, either. Edmonton also allowed 31 goals in nine games in December.

Superstar to build

Alex Ovechkin, WAS vs. NSH ($ 9,700) – The No.8 has only missed the scoresheet twice in his last 14 games, and he’s posted double-digit DKFPs in all but one of those games. He also racked up an impressive 10 counts, 11 assists and 73 shots during that same streak to reaffirm his fantastic high floor and high ceiling profile. Predators should be deprived of number 1 defenseman Roman Josi ($ 7,600; health protocols) Wednesday, greatly improving Ovechkin’s duel.

Value in case of violation

Jack Hughes, NJ to BUF ($ 4,800) – The first overall selection of 2019 has registered a disappointing three goals and two assists in 11 games since returning from injury, so a game over against the Sabers presents itself as an escape opportunity. Hughes recorded a respectable 23 shots, 53 attempts and 15 high-risk individual scoring chances in the 11-game streak, after all.

Alex Tuch, BUF vs. NJ ($ 2,500) – Scheduled for a leading attacking role from the start with his new club, Tuch will be a popular minimum wage target on Wednesday. He’s ranked 28th in 60-minute five-on-five shooting attempts over the past three seasons among all skaters with at least 2,000 minutes, so there is a respectable floor.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, BUF v NJ ($ 7,600) – Not only are the Devils just 3-8-2 on the road this season, but they’ve also only scored 45 goals during their active 3-12-3 streak. Safe to suggest it’s a solid game for Luukkonen. He’s also in good shape with a .939 save percentage and 1.96 average in his last five starts.

Thatcher Demko, VAN at ANH ($ 7,300) – Sporting an active 8-4 record with a .941 save percentage and 1.91 GAA, Demko is in great shape for a date with the Ducks. Although Anaheim is a solid 10-4-3 at home, the difficulty of the game is built into Demko’s reasonable salary.

Value on defense

Alexandre Carrier, NSH to WAS ($ 3,000) – As noted above, Josi is set to miss another Predators game, and Carrier has been taking advantage of the captain’s absence lately. Carrier has recorded four assists, three shots and four blocks in the last three games.

Power-play defender

John Carlson, WAS vs. NSH ($ 7,500) – Nashville ranks 21st in penalty shootout percentage, so this is one of the best special-team clashes on the list, and Carlson is ripe for a statistical correction. He’s only registered one goal and three assists in his last nine games, despite having been on the ice for 43 high-risk scoring opportunities. In addition, he also completes his fantastic point tally in the Peripheral categories, with 26 shots and 12 blocks in the indicated nine-game period.

Tyson Barrie, EDM at STL ($ 5,700) – Ranking third in points by 60 minutes among all defensemen over the past two seasons, that’s a reasonable salary to try his luck against Barrie. The Blues have probably outperformed defensively this season too. They allowed the most anticipated seventh goals by 60 minutes overall and ceded the most dangerous eighth scoring chances by 60 shorthanded.
