Cowper Federal Nationals member Pat Conaghan is urging volunteer groups to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) form for the latest round of volunteer grants.
There is a total of $66,225 (excluding GST) available to the Cowper electorate, with individual grants between $1,000 and $5,000 available to eligible nonprofit community organizations.
EOIs are now open and will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, September 26.
“We have seen wonderfully deserving community groups receive funding over the years. From local sports clubs like the Urunga Hockey Club who were able to purchase team equipment and support team travel costs to the MixTub Theater Group in Coffs Harbor who were able to purchase new audio visual equipment for their amazing children’s performances of all levels,” Mr. Conaghan said.
“These grants are intended to help community organizations support the efforts of Australian volunteers and to help organizations support the inclusion of vulnerable people through volunteering.
“Overall, these grants are intended to encourage, support and increase volunteer participation rates.”
Funding can be used for a variety of activities, including the purchase of eligible small equipment for volunteer use, contributions to volunteer fuel costs, or to help with transportation costs for volunteers with disabilities who cannot drive.
Grants can also be used to help defray the cost of training courses for volunteers, to undertake important volunteer background checks or even to carry out activities to promote awareness and increase participation in volunteer opportunities. .
Volunteer groups must apply and be nominated for grants through the formal Expression of Interest process and successful applicants will be announced in the new year.
